Chairs are one of the very simple inventions, but despite their simplicity and ease of manufacture and innovation, they have very great importance and many benefits and uses in practical life. They are used to sit and relax instead of standing or lying on the floor, and can also be used as a small sofa to put things on top of them in the absence of a table.
Many chairs have elegant and striking designs that have become a prominent and elegant part of the décor of the house, where their beautiful designs give special luxury and splendor, and when placing and arranging a collection of them with the rest of the furniture pieces and coordinating their colors and designs together in a distinctive and modern way that impresses.
The method of making chairs
Chairs can be made in several ways using different materials and designs, the most prominent of which are the following:
How to make a wooden chair
A simple yet elegant wooden chair can be made at home to suit a person's needs rather than buying it in stores, by following these steps:
Required Tools:
- panels of plywood.
- Wooden glue.
- electric drill, diameters of 0.6 cm, 0.8 cm, 0.4 cm.
- Double-ended spaces.
- Saw.
- Sandpaper.
- A set of nails and screws.
How To Make:
The sides of the chair are prepared by cutting the plank into pieces of the following dimensions:
- Two 42 cm pieces, size 5*5.
- Two 95 cm pieces, size 5*5.
- Two 36 cm pieces, size 10 x 2.5.
- One piece measures 36 cm and the other is 10 x 2.5,
- They are cut lengthwise into two longitudinal pieces.
The aspects that have been cut and prepared in the previous steps are grouped as follows:
- One hole with a diameter of 0.25 cm is made using an electric drill in the middle of the 42 cm dimensional wooden pieces, one hole with a diameter of 0.4 cm is made from above, and then two more holes with a diameter of 0.2 cm are made from the top as well.
- Holes are made at equal distances so that they are 0.6 cm in diameter at the ends of the panels, with dimensions of 10*2.5 cm.
- Holes with a diameter of 0.6 cm are made so that they are located in the middle of the 95 cm piece. Holes are made at 36 cm with a diameter of 0.8 cm from the bottom, followed by holes at 38 cm with a diameter of 0.4 cm from the bottom as well.
- The nails enter the holes and connect all the pieces together to form the chair, so that the side pieces are compatible and enter the tops of the small supports.
Connect the remaining parts and parts of the chair, by preparing the following pieces:
- Cut three wooden pieces with a size of 36 cm and dimensions of 2.5 x 4 cm.
- Cut a piece of wood 30 cm in size and dimensions of 2.5*10 to 3 pieces.
- A square of 34 x 43 cm is cut from plywood, and from its corners it travels a distance of 3.8 x 3.8 cm to make it easier to connect it to the other rear parts of the seat.
- Holes with a diameter of 0.6 cm are made in one of the wooden pieces with dimensions of 2.0 x 10 cm on one of its long sides so that the hole is in the middle and two other holes 10 cm from the end of the board are 0.4 cm in diameter.
- This piece is determined by placing it with the seat piece on the side that contains the cracks, marking the locations of the holes of the piece with dimensions of 2.5 x 10, and making several other holes with a diameter of 0.6 cm on the seat piece located between the two notches as well.
- Holes with a diameter of 0.6 cm are made in the center of the three cut panels with dimensions of 2.5*10 cm.
- Central experimental holes are made in the seat columns and decorating screws are used so that holes with a diameter of 1 cm are made 2.5 cm from the top of the short columns and another with a diameter of 1 cm 36 cm from the bottom of the long columns.
- Fasten the chair and glue the prepared pieces, inserting the nails into the holes made for the 3-dimensional panels of 2.5*10 cm at the back of the seat, fixing it using adhesive glue, and letting it dry.
- The back of the seat is placed in place with two side pieces under it so that the rear supports fit snugly to the previously made cracks, and the nails enter through the plywood and down in the center of the front supports to install it.
- Both the front and rear aprons are glued and fixed in place through the previously made experimental openings, and two decorating screws enter through the seat into the rear apron, with a nail to be placed between the three vertical bars.
- The seat is smoothed with sandpaper and prepared for painting, then painted to taste.
How to make a chair from old frames
Old car tires and making a beautiful chair can be utilized in the following way:
Required Tools:
- Old rubber tire or truck.
- 4 square wooden blocks to form the legs of the seat.
- A set of nuts and screws.
- Pieces of fabric and leather if any.
- A piece of plywood with a width of 9 mm.
- Pieces of sponge according to the size of the frame.
- Scissors.
- Piston for wood.
- Pieces of wood or columns resemble firewood.
- Measuring meter.
How to make:
4 holes are made on the wooden circle, and the holes are marked on the frame to determine their location on it, then dug it in a larger part so that it does not shrink later and is small and does not pass through the screws, then the circle is placed above and below the seat and fixed with screws.
The top face of the circular plank is covered with adhesive glue and a sponge piece is placed on top of it to make the seat more comfortable, and more than one piece of sponge can be placed depending on its thickness so that they are sewn together before gluing them to it, and the sides of the sponge are slightly larger than the circular plank.
The sponge is covered with fabric so that it can be left hanging or glued and fixed under the frame using a wooden piston, or using iron screws.
The legs of the seat are made using square or circular wooden blocks that are fixed to it using large nails and leather can be placed under them to secure it further on the floor and ensure that it does not slip.
A seat back is made using a set of wooden poles that are fixed with nails and screws and placed in the form of an arch so that they are separated by fixed distances, then covered with sponge and cardboard to make the chair more comfortable.
A fabric that envelops the back of the seat is sewn in the desired color and according to the color of the fabric fabric in the same way as the fabric cushions.
How to make a cartoon chair
The cartoon chair is made using cardboard paper, in the following way:
- Durable cardboard box box.
- Cardboard slab set.
- Scissors.
- Ruler or meter measurement.
- Pen.
- Paper napkins.
- Adhesive glue.
- Craft supplies for decoration to taste.
How to make:
The panels are glued to the inner walls of the box and must be pressed hard to glue and hold them well, then turn the box back on its base, leaving for two hours to dry completely.
Flip the cartoon box so that the bottom base becomes at the top, and then its base is measured to determine its exact length and width.
Draws a square of the same length and width as the base of the box on a piece of cardboard, and repeats the making of 6 squares of cardboard of the same size.
Place the adhesive glue on the base of the box and place the first square piece directly above the base of the box, then repeat the process by placing 5 squares on top of it so that each square is gently pressed, wipe the excess glue with a paper napkin, and then leave it for at least two hours until it is completely dry.
The back of the chair is made using the remaining square piece, by placing the adhesive glue along the bottom edge about 2.5 cm wide, then pressing the bottom edge on the back of the square box to glue them together, leaving them for two hours until the back dries.
The chair is painted to taste with acrylic paint, and several layers can be made, each separated for two hours until completely dry, and can be decorated with stickers or other craft elements to taste.
